Lee Eunmi, called the “barefoot diva” in Korea, is seen as a legend for her passionate singing. After making her debut as a solo artist in 1992, she saw much success with songs like “I Have A Lover” an “In the Middle of Breaking Up”. Lee Eunmi is known for her stellar live performances; she shows consistently strong vocal prowess and concentrates on performances rather than appearing on variety shows. She has performed at the Korean Music Festival at Hollywood Bowl in 2006, 2007, and 2010; the Nokia Theater at LA Live welcomed her during the 2009 Victory Concert.
“I Have A Lover”, released back in 2005 on her album “Ma Non Tanto”, still sees much popularity. The song is widely performed by other celebrities on a regular basis, some well-known examples being SNSD’s Taeyeon and Super Junior K.R.Y. and Donghae.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise that on a recent episode of Mnet’s “Yoon Dohyun’s Must” (a show that introduces 100 songs to viewers every week), it was revealed that “I Have A Lover” is the song Koreans most want to sing when they have a microphone.
The show invited Lee Eunmi on as a special guest; she said, “I heard that this song has been used 20 million times at noraebangs [Korean-style karaoke rooms] over the past five years. I’m surprised and thankful that this song has received so much love for so long in an ever-changing music industry like today’s.”
The top 10 list for popular noraebang songs also included Im Jaebum’s “Confession and “For You”, Lee Jeok’s “What a Relief” and “Race Across the Skies”, YB’s “Love Two”, Cherry Filter’s “Sweet Kitty”, Big Mama’s “Resignation”, Park Sangchul’s “No Matter What”, and IU’s “Good Day”.
